Whiskey Fumes

So last night we went down to Village Underground for the Cutty Sark Sessions night. The Hit & Run London Crew, featuring founding member Brandy Flower,  were in full force pulling limited edition Tees for the crowd. The queue for the tees was so big, I think the organisers underestimated the powers of the H&R as they had to stop the printing for a while because the line was blocking the stage where Asian Dub Foundation were playing.

Ladysqaud attendance was good last night as we smuggled in Barrie Cradshaw. LucySitDown wasn't sitting down but was having a good dance and frequent bar visits, as we all were, what with free Cutty Sark cocktails up for grabs.

Whisky fuelled conversation highlights included the plan to all be in next years Gumball Rally (a boys car 'The Sausage Squad' and a girls car 'The Ladysquad'), being photographed in Semi-nostalgic (Where did Hugo buy that camera?), the formation of Caucasian Fag Foundation and other such ramblings.

Barry Cradshaw and myself managed to keep it sensible and left at a reasonable hour. Some others preferred to stagger in at 3am with half bottles of whisky in hand. All in all a great night, lovely folks, lovely times. Just don't hold a naked flame up to the Rock Group members this morning.

A big shout out to the security guy who was lovely and let me get in the right places to get photos, and to the H&R 'iron' featured looking hot in the photos below.

So I reckon that I've got enough sneaks to do my own version of this. I'm just lacking the big fuck off speakers.

It's our Pete!

Here's the lovely Mr Hellicar and his partner Mr Lewis talking about their recent OneDotZero installation they did for the Roundhouse in London.
Unfortunately, this film doesn't contain any of Pete's crap joke repertoire. Which is immense and mainly works around bad puns which are so bad it's fantastic.
Click here to take a look at all their other projects. I shall now spend the rest of the afternoon pondering how I can use them in some advertising. Hmmmmmmmmm. These fellas are very very talented and clever chappies.

Matchy matchy

So Mrs Deathspray and I were comparing nail varnish the other night which got me to thinking (oh god that sounded like Carrie Bradshaw) what kind of cars we could treat ourselves to, to match our nails. Forget handbags, well temporarily anyways, and imagine having a nice car to match your nails.

So here are my nails, matt black, created using a top coat of this

And here is my ride of choice.

And for Mrs Deathsprays metal flake digits

It's arrived!

So after all the volcanic ash and flights fiasco my Lyle Owerko print finally arrived today!

It's been across the Atlantic and back, twice, then ended up in Spain, the Cologne, lost it's tube cap then eventually ended up in London. I haven't taken it out of the tube yet because I requested a large print, about 1metre in widt, and it was too huge to get out at work.

I cannot wait to get it home and check it out.

I also cannot begin to express how brilliant it has been corresponding with the man himself. So friendly, such a pleasure to deal with, professional, massive attention to detail and very accommodating. All in all a great experience at buying an art print. I'm really really pleased I bought it. He's going to blow up huge as a Boombox book is due out at the end of May and London art auctions are already taking interest in his work. Not that I'll be selling mine. No way Jose.

Here's the one I ordered but click on the link above to  see all the others available and Lyle's other work in his portfolio.

Continuous Conjunction by Pakpoom Silaphan

We ventured West last night for Pakpoom Silaphan's show at Ap-Art Gallery in Westbourne Grove.
The artist collected all of the signage growing up in the countryside of Thailand and adds icons such as Warhol, McQueen, Elvis and Lennon in white emulsion and black marker pen.
My man correctly predicted which piece I would buy if I had the cash. He's very good like that. It's shot no1. The Steve McQueen one with him looking super hot.

The Rock Group were present, don't recognise their new member though.

kids these days

Look away now if you don't want to feel old. This is a spread I did with Will Robson Scott, photographer extraordinaire, famed for his street art book Crack and Shine. This was published in Mixmag, these under 18's are too cool for school.

Introducing...

Douce Angoisse, the amazing french leftfield rapper who played at the RandomCuts show last week. Loving her work.
Check out some more tunes here

For my ladies

This is great because:
a) The song is called Drunk Girls
b) Spike Jonze (my husband in another life) made it
c) It's LCD Soundsystem
d) It's chaotic and nuts and looks fun and it would never be the kind of thing I could ever do at work because it would blow loads of clients minds.

Tut tut

Fellas have been running the whole streetwear thing for a while now and they're getting a little bit complacent and sloppy.
Exhibit A. The Stussy Chisel Tee. Look at the bad kerning on the 1980 bit! Look at the space between the 1 and the 9. Tut tut. Budge that up will you Shawn?

Watch out lads, I'm on to you. More examples of bad kerning on Streetwear clothing soon.

Jena Theo private sales evening

Last night some of the Ladysquad met in town to support the most talented design duo, Jenny and Demitris AKA JenaTheo, winners of this years Fashion Fringe sponsored by the Fashion Council.

We had much fun trying everything on and cooing over it all in between sipping champagne. It's all beautiful, I've got my eye on next years winter coat already and may have to get an order in for that pretty soon. It's lined with pure silk so when you put bare arms in the sleeves it feels like heaven.

What I especially love about JenaTheo clothing is that, as a tall lady who has trouble with other designer brands, these clothes fit and compliment so so well. They are up there with Vivienne Westwood in my 'clothing I must buy because I know it compliments my shape' category.

Artwork by the lovely Mr OTwo was adorning not only the walls but the material print too. Such a beautiful collection, I could quite happily be decked out from head to toe. I am definitely getting hold of some JenaTheo jeans very soon. They are amazing. Actually trying on, handling real silks and mohair and seeing the attention to detail that goes into clothing like this just re-enforces my notion of ignoring cheap high street disposable fashion and investing in pieces that will be with my wardrobe forever.

I think it's safe to say that I am JenaTheo's No.1 fan.
Jenny and Dimitris, please, NEVER stop making clothes.
